| Welcome to English 101 Online at Harper College! I am glad that you decided to enroll in an online English composition class, even though learning online--especially studying writing online--might be a new experience for you. Indeed, there are some fundamental differences between learning online and learning in a traditional classroom. Rest assured, though, that there is one very important similarity: you are working with other students. Hence, just as in a traditional classroom (perhaps even more so), I encourage you to rely on your classmates for information, ideas, and support. And, of course, I, your instructor, will help you in any way that I can.
To start with, I'd like you to complete a brief orientation to online learning. This orientation should be completed during the first week of class. After you have worked through the orientation exercises, please complete the Orientation Quiz. (This quiz is worth some points, so don't forget about it.) The Orientation Quiz is due by Friday, 19 January 2001.
Once again, welcome to the class! I am excited about working with you. To begin the orientation exercises, click on the "Start Orientation" link at the bottom of this page. |
