Geography at Harper
Spring Semester 2000

Spring semester, 2000, Harper will be offering more geography classes than ever before. In the past decade Harper's geography department has grown from one section of one course with 30 students to twelve sections of four different courses taught by seven instructors. Last semester over 150 students learned the importance of place in Harper's geography courses.

Our courses include the popular GEG 101, World Regional Geography, with one section taught completely over the internet and another taught as a telecourse. We also offer GEG 121, Physical Geography, a natural and physical science general education course. In fact, all of Harper's geography courses are "gen ed" courses and transferable to other Illinois colleges and universities through the Illinois Articulation Initiative.

It is often said that we now live in a global economy and that the world is getting smaller. Whether you plan to study business, the social sciences, arts and literature, or the natural sciences, geography courses provide you with important knowledge needed to make you a better businessperson, reader, voter, and citizen.
