Attendance is mandatory for the on-campus orientation session on 01 September. Any student who does not attend the mandatory orientation session will be withdrawn from the class. That student will be responsible for applying for any applicable refunds from the Harper Registrar. All work is due by 11:59 p.m. on the listed due date. Except for revised drafts of projects, all work (summarization exercises, rough drafts of projects, Audience Profile Sheets, discussion forum exercises, quizzes, and the like) submitted after the due date will not be eligible for points. The scores of revised drafts of projects submitted after the due date will be reduced by 20% of the total possible points. Late projects must be submitted within two weeks of the original due date in order to be eligible for points. There is no extra credit work. You will not succeed in this course without actively participating in it. Among other things, you will be asked to participate in online discussions, asked to share your ideas and responses, and asked to respond to your classmates' work. These exercises will be both graded and non-graded. I will evaluate the graded activities on the basis of both quality and quantity. I will distribute to each class member a computer-generated, cumulative grade report twice during the semester: once at midsemester and once before the final exam. Still, I will be happy to send you a cumulative grade report at any time during the semester; just request one. Also, you should keep copies (either electronic or printed or both) of all your work, and especially of those assignments to which I have responded and scored. That way, you can check the accuracy of any grade report by comparing the scores recorded on it with the scores reported to you in my responses to your work. I cannot change a score on your grade report without that score being verified by a copy of my original response to the exercise. |
