Course Policies

Attendance
Class attendance is required for the three on-campus/on-site sessions (01/16, 01/23, and the final exam session).

Grading
Assignments are due on time both for peer readings and for grading. Because of the on-line component, late assignments will not be accepted. Students should post their draft essays on time for peer response and return their peer readings to their partners by the due date. Copies of all materials should be e-mailed to both teachers. While the draft essays will be submitted directly to Nicenet, the peer readings will be e-mailed to the writers and the instructors. Essay assignments will not be accepted if submitted more than one week after the due date.

Peer Responses
Because peer readings of student essays are an essential part of the course, students are expected to make careful, useful comments so that the student essayist will have material with which to revise the essay. Guidelines for peer response will accompany each essay.

Grammar
Because this is a transferable-credit, post-secondary writing class, all written work should follow the guidelines for standard written English and should be as error-free as possible.

Other Policies
Keep electronic copies of all course-related documents, including journals, reading responses, essay drafts, and the like. Save copies to both a floppy disk and the hard disk of your computer. Keep all files, electronic and printed, until the semester is over.

Also, the revised draft of an essay must be submitted as an attachment to an e-mail message. A revised draft should be saved in Rich Text Format (*.rtf), and attached to the e-mail message. See the page on e-mail use in this course for more information.
