Course Grading
There are a total of 200 points possible during the semester. What follows is a breakdown of the possible points for each assignment. After this breakdown is the scale of points for particular letter grades.
Possible Points Per Assignments
  • Four Essays: 88 pts.
    • Essay 1--Observation: 16 pts.
    • Essay 2--Investigation: 20 pts.
    • Essay 3--Evaluation: 24 pts.
    • Essay 4--Problem-Solving or Argumentation: 28 pts.
  • Four Essay Drafts: 8 pts.
    • Two (2) points per rough draft
  • Four Essay Postscripts: 4 pts.
    • One (1) point per postcript
  • Eight Peer Response Exercises: 16 pts.
    • Two (2) points per peer response
  • Fourteen Written Response/Online Conference Exercises: 28 pts.
    • Two (2) points per written or online response
  • Four Grammar Quizzes: 16 pts.
    • Four (4) points per quiz.
  • Orientation Quiz: 4 pts.
  • In-Class Writing (16 Jan): 6 pts.
  • Online Writing Log: 10 pts.
  • Final Written Examination (16 May): 20 pts.
